You’ll Be Shocked To Know These Clothing Brands You Thought Were Foreign, Are Indian!

We love shopping, don't we? As soon as our salaries get credited we march over to malls, showrooms and take it all in spending half of our money on clothes and then feel guilty afterwards! *I know right*

There's just no stopping to this. I wish those 'high-IQ' people could come up with a crash course on how to control these shopping-spree outbursts!

Anyway, not deviating from the topic, we did some research on your favourite clothing brands and we were nothing but 'flabbergasted' by the results! *sincere thanks to Shashi Tharoor*

Here are some clothing brands which we all thought were Foreign, but are Indian. Brace yourselves for some real shockers!

1. Monte Carlo

Yes, trust me I am just as shocked as you are! So Monte Carlo Fashions Limited is a clothing company based in India which manufactures woollen and cotton garments for men, women and kids.
The company sells its apparel products under the brand name Monte Carlo and is owned by Nahar Group, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Basically, Monte Carlo is ..... Punjabi? *Damn!*

2. Allen Solly

Allen Solly brand Via: R City Mall
Yes folks, Allen Solly too, is Indian and is owned by none other than our very own Aditya Birla Group. Although it formerly belonged to a company called Madura Garments and was acquired by Aditya Birla Group in 2001.

Need I remind you that it was Allen Solly who modernized Indian fashion by bringing the concept of semi-formals in the picture.

3. Peter England

How more foreign it needs to be looking, right? But, one of the largest menswear brands, Peter England is an Indian brand owned by Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd. Although all rights to this brand were sold to Aditya Birla Group with the name of MF&L (Madura Fashion & Lifestyle) in 2013.

Well, it is the most loved menswear brand in India, so next time if you're in a dilemma of what to gift your spouse, you know where to go!

4. Louis Philippe

This was the least expected names of all! But turns out, one of the largest men's apparel brands, Louis Philippe is a part of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of the Aditya Birla Group. The brand name is inspirited by King Louis Philippe, who was King of the French from 1830 to 1848. Doing justice to the origin of the name, the brand excels in luxury wear.

5. Van Heusen

Van Heusen brand Via: Indian Retailer
The brand which has become synonymous to men's style! Van Heusen is basically from Ireland, but all rights to it were sold to Aditya Birla Group with the name of MF&L (Madura Fashion & Lifestyle) in 2013. Founded in the year 2006, its a go-to brand for corporates since it excels in a wide range of men and women business wear.

6. Oxemberg

Owned by Siyaram's Group, Oxemberg is a formal and casual clothing brand, with its corporate headquarters located in Mumbai. The flagship band of Siyaram's Apparel Division changed the face of formal, semi-formal and cool casualwear like never before!

7. Park Avenue

Another name for classy wardrobe accessories, Park Avenue is owned by premium fabric and fashion retailer, Raymond Group. The name Park Avenue is inspired by an elite, high street in Manhattan and owes it to the name to have become India's "Complete Wardrobe Dressing Solutions" for men.
Wow, had We known all these times that these super famous brands were Indian, we would've felt a bit more proud!
