32 dead, 90 injured in Congo train accident


On Monday, as per the local media reports, three people died and around 90 were injured in a train accident in Kasai province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As per the reports, the freight train carrying stowaways in which mostly were children got derailed in Bena Leka settlement, 140 kilometers north of Kananga in Kasai.

A railway police officer in Bena Lake said that many wagons of the freight train fell into the water at the bridge built on the river Luembe, while five more wagons turned upside down.

Al Jazeera reported that the seriously injured people were sent to the hospital in nearby Kakenge.
The incident was confirmed by the National Rail Company of Congo. Officials said that the toll may increase in the train accident, whereas the actual cause of the accident hasn't been found yet. Waiting for further details.

This is the third rail accident in about a month in Congo. reportedly, Five people were killed in a passenger train accident at Kalenda station last month.
