We are talking about Coral barrier reef none other than of Queensland, Australia. The historic Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia’s most extraordinary natural vantage points.

Hard corals- Comprising of 411 hard corals.
  • The best thing about these corals is that they are generally found in clear water less than 50 meters deep as the algae which are in shallow water need light for photosynthesis.
    The great reef is a beautiful home to more than 2,900 coral reefs, 600 continental islands, 300 coral cays and thousands of magnificent animal species, which contributes to make it the world’s most complicated ecosystems which encapsulate:

  • In the November, the coral reef gets very busy during Reproduction season — also known as ‘sex on the reef’. The increase in the number of species is due to the water temperature and the phase of the moon.
  • Taking aside the climatic change and impact of humans, the worst natural hunter of the reef is the crown-of-thorns starfish. This starfish is well-known for stripping reefs of nearly all living coral, but, fortunately, new corals can are generally able to re-grow after the bursting and stripping of corals.
  • In 1981, by UNESCO World Heritage, The Great Barrier Reef is remarked as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
