Now Foreigners Can Travel To Unrestricted Andaman And Nicobar Islands
NEW DELHI: The purpose of the Ministry of Tourism is to promote foreign tourist arrivals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Foreign tourists are now free to visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands without any restrictions.
A source from the ministry said, the home ministry has modified its earlier order which made it necessary for them to register with the Foreigners Registration Officer within 24 hours of their arrival.

On 17th September, the steps were taken on the suggestions made by the Ministry of Tourism to promote foreign tourist arrivals in one of the Union Territory.
This recent order follows the earlier instruction which allowed foreigners to travel 29 populated and 11 abandoned Islands in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which were prohibited to visitors under Foreigners (Restricted Area) Order, 1963, visitors without any restrictions.

The Tourism Ministry has also proposed that the travel restrictions will be removed from border areas of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
